Forced continuity is a lucrative business method that guarantees continual money in your product from customers. They pay for your product or service on a schedule until they cancel. With this method comes questions and following are two common questions about forced continuity.

Question #1: When doing forced continuity do you feel the $1 for 30 days is better than the free trial for the 30 days? Assume that there is no free CD in the offer.

Answer: How can you do forced continuity if it is totally free? You need to get their credit card information if there is going to be forced continuity attached to it. When you do forced continuity you have to think in a specific way. You have to think of the lowest barrier of entry you can possibly create. This barrier can’t be free. The lowest barrier of entry, in my mind, is $1. So use the $1 for 30 days offer.

Question #2: On the free CD offer with forced continuity I know that you are using One Click Up sells. Do they only work with Infusion? Can you suggest anyone else for me if you do not have Infusion?

Answer: That piece of software is currently designed for Infusion, but they also do custom builds. They are looking at their software to build an infrastructure that doesn’t use Infusion.

We do it in a unique way. When you go through the process you use an embedded offer from. Then you have the one-click order form. People either say “yes” or “no”. If they say “yes” then it automatically tags their card and automatically runs their card.

There are programs out there that you can do forced continuity through 1Shopping Cart. The problem with this is that it can be time sensitive. For example, if you are running 500 orders then it can be a headache. You would have to manually do all of these orders. This makes 1ShoppingCart with forced continuity an unattractive option.

There are also dozens of one click order scripts out there. From a technical prospective all these scripts really do is just move the variables from one form to another. They send an email to you saying that this person wants a specific product. This creates manual work. You have to process the credit card information that may or may not be authorized for the amount of money you need to charge. So this really requires human follow up which is also an unattractive, time consuming option.

As a workaround, I have different script that works for a high numbers of orders every day. The script is a live processing script so you don’t have to follow up. This enables it to be a process that works by itself. I don’t have to manually complete all the orders.
